Danial Ollivere exhibits his artist's book 'Sunderland'

From around the country The Sunderland Book Project brings together artists, designers, comic makers, printmakers and those new to artist’s book making such as Daniall Ollivere as student based at St Bedes, Lanchester.  The project brief asks participants to make a book, (using whatever production methods required) on the subject of the City of Sunderland.
Showing alongside The Sunderland Book Project is a collection of artist’s bookwork from Beijing from the private collection of established artist’s bookmaker, Sumi Perera, as well as work from the collection of Sarah Bodman, Research Fellow in Artist’s Book at the University of West of England and current book work in glass and paper from Theresa Easton.

Louise Lumley makes her first sale!


17th June 2011 St Bedes Lanchester.  Louise Lumley sets up a stall in the courtyard during lunchtime to drum up support and interest in the project 'PrintPerfect'. Her first sale, a hand printed bag, goes to Amanda Ritson, Creative Agent for St Bedes.
Also on sale include mini-note books, an artist's book based on Sunderland FC by Danial Ollivere

Ellie has it all in hand

Working to a deadline isn't always fun, but Ellie here has taken the bull by the horns and is working flat out to complete her hand printed books project.  Designing and printing work in collaboration with Megan, both students have done a fantastic job in balancing study and creativity.

Danial Ollivere completes the final stage!

Danial Ollivere completes the final stage of  his Sunderland Book Project! Printing the covers is the final stage before assembling the book.  Danial plans to develop the book into a concertina style fold.

The lecture theatre at St Bedes becomes transforms into a miniprinting studio.
